Suzuki V-Strom SX is a adventure bike available in 2 variants and 3 colours. The Suzuki V-Strom SX is powered by 249cc BS6 engine which develops a power of 26.1 bhp and a torque of 22.2 Nm. With both front and rear disc brakes, Suzuki V-Strom SX comes up with anti-locking braking system. This V-Strom SX bike weighs 167 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 12 liters.
Suzuki Motorcycles India has updated its portfolio with the launch of the most affordable V-Strom series model. This new quarter-litre adventure tourer, christened as the V-Strom SX, rivals the likes of KTM 250 Adventure, Benelli TRK251, Royal Enfield Himalayan, and Hero XPulse 200 in the Indian market.
The new V-Strom SX is based on the company’s existing quarter-litre model, the Gixxer 250. The design includes a single-pod headlight, tall stance, muscular fuel tank, tall windscreen, and beak-style front fender. The feature list comprises an LED headlight, LED taillight, and a Bluetooth-enabled fully digital instrument cluster. Apart from the ride-related information, the console also shows alerts on incoming messages, calls, and turn-by-turn navigation. It also shows speed exceeding warnings and displays phone battery level. A USB charging slot and a rear luggage rack are also part of the package.
The mechanical specifications on the new V-Strom SX include a 249cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled motor that delivers 26.5bhp of power and 22.2Nm of peak torque. The engine is linked to a six-speed gearbox.
The hardware comprises telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock to handle the suspension tasks. The anchoring setup includes single discs on both wheels while the safety net is handled by dual-channel ABS. The V-Strom SX rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels that are wrapped in dual-purpose 100/90 front and 140/70 rear tubeless tyres.

Good Things
- Gets good suspension travel, ground clearance
- 250cc engine has good grunt
- Equipped with Bluetooth instrument cluster
Could be Better
- Misses out on spoke wheels
- Priced a bit high
BikeWale's Take
The V-Strom SX is a quarter-litre adventure touring motorcycle from Suzuki. It is equipped with a 250cc engine that offers good performance along with suspension travel and ground clearance that's quite practical for India. The bike also gets a large windscreen and behind that is a Bluetooth-enabled instrument cluster. But the bike is priced a bit high and also misses out on spoke wheels and off-road ABS.

Suzuki V-Strom SX Expert Opinion
We rode the new Suzuki V-Strom SX for a detailed road test review and analysed its performance, comfort, and fuel efficiency levels.
Introduction
Why to buy it?
- Enjoyable engine
- Commendable handling characteristics
- Good road presence
Why to avoid it?
- Stiff ride quality
- Windscreen not very effective
- Expensive price
The new V-Strom SX is an adventure-tourer based on the Suzuki Gixxer 250, using the exact same engine and most of the hardware from the quarter-litre roadster. But, at the same time, it gets extra benefits that are associated with adventure-tourers. We tested this new product from the Japanese two-wheeler maker for a detailed road test review where we analysed its performance, comfort, and fuel efficiency levels. Here we tell you if the V-Strom SX deserves the price premium that it carries over the Gixxer 250 and whether you should buy it over the Royal Enfield Himalayan.
Styling & Quality
The V-Strom SX is designed for touring, and it packs styling cues to match the requirements. Thus, it gets a semi-fairing design, a windscreen, and upright ergonomics to enhance the comfort levels. The ADV-styling on the motorcycle includes a beak-style front fender, knuckle guards, better ground clearance, taller seat height, an engine bash plate, and a rear luggage rack. The ground clearance is 40mm higher while the saddle is 35mm taller than the Gixxer 250.
All of this leads to a tall stance and a good road presence. This, however, also adds to the kerb weight and the V-Strom SX is six kilograms heavier than the naked roadster. On the upside, while this adventure-tourer tips the weighing scales at 167kg, it carries that weight well and is almost effortless when riding or filtering through the traffic.
The appealing design of the V-Strom SX is backed by the assuring Japanese build quality. Thus, the panels are well put together with no uneven gaps in sight. The paint quality looks premium and the switchgear on the handlebar operates with an assuring click. That said, the ‘Mode’ and ‘Set’ switches come with a rubber cover and they require extra effort to operate when wearing gloves.
The quality of the equipment, such as the luggage rack and engine bash plate, too, is top-notch and these feel strong and sturdy. There weren’t any unpleasant noises from the panels, and the only complaint we had was regarding the vibrations from the footpegs that become evident after 6,500rpm.
Ergonomics & Comfort
One of the USPs of the V-Strom SX over its quarter-litre Gixxer branded siblings is the comfort level. The handlebar is tall while the footpegs are relatively neutral set – all of which contribute to upright ergonomics. Both, the rider and pillion seats are large and well-padded, thus providing a good amount of comfort during long rides. Then there are additional bits at the front, such as the semi-fairing and the windscreen, to protect against windblasts.
While the package sounds promising, it has some scope for improvement. The windscreen, albeit tall, doesn’t provide much protection from windblasts when cruising over 100kmph. The comfort department in terms of ride quality isn’t very impressive either as the V-Strom SX uses the same hardware as the Gixxer 250. Thus, it isn’t very friendly over bad surfaces. Now, there is a way around V-Strom SX’s stiff ride quality, and you can tackle bad surfaces by standing on the footpegs, but that is easier said than done. Why?
While the handlebar is higher than the Gixxer 250, taller riders will face some difficulty. At 5’10” tall, I had to lean forward in order to reach the handlebar while standing on the footpegs. The seat height, too, is on the taller side and while I could place both my feet on the ground, people who are 5’5” or shorter would have a tough time on the saddle, especially while moving the motorcycle around in the parking.
Although the ride quality and ergonomics aren’t the best in the segment, the V-Strom SX redeems itself when it comes to performance and handling.
Performance & Handling
The design is a major departure from the naked roadster or the semi-faired version. The engine, however, is exactly the same as the quarter-litre Gixxer models. Thus, this 249cc, oil-cooled, four-valve engine on the V-Strom SX makes the same 26.1bhp and 22.2Nm of peak torque as the Gixxer 250s. Similar to the Gixxer 250, the motor on the V-Strom SX feels comfortable anywhere above 4,000rpm and there is a noticeable step-up in acceleration post 6,000rpm. In fact, the motor continues to build momentum even closer to the redline, which makes it very engaging and fun to ride.
The engine feels comfortable at highway speeds with minimal noise or vibrations. Thus, you can cruise at 80-90kmph all day long. It is also possible to cruise at triple-digit speeds and the meter will happily cross 130kmph. However, the sound and vibrations become evidently louder once you cross 90kmph and it starts to feel stressed at triple-digit speeds. Meanwhile, the six-speed transmission feels crisp and smooth, and we didn’t face any issues with it. Furthermore, the light action of the clutch is an absolute boon while riding in bumper-to-bumper traffic.
The suspension, as mentioned before, feels stiff and it doesn’t iron out the undulations that efficiently. However, the tuning comes in handy while riding enthusiastically over well-laid surfaces and around corners. Sure, the 19-inch front wheel and dual-purpose tyres make it lazier than the Gixxer 250. Still, it feels sporty enough to have fun around the twisty roads. Further, the braking setup is satisfactory but not great. While it feels progressive, it lacks the initial bite and thus isn’t very confidence-inspiring.
Features & Technology
Features and technology are where this Suzuki further shines over its competition. The standard list comprises an LED headlight, Bluetooth connectivity, USB charger, single-push start, and dual-channel ABS.
The Bluetooth-connectivity function, which works with a dedicated smartphone app, brings turn-by-turn navigation, notifications of calls, SMS, WhatsApp, and phone battery level indication on the LCD. The headlight performance is optimum and the V-Strom SX packs a good spread and throw of light after dark. The Bluetooth module on the motorcycle and the smartphone app, too, is easy to understand and operate. The only complaint we had was the absence of slipper clutch mechanism and non-switchable ABS.
Fuel Efficiency
The new V-Strom SX delivered a fuel economy of 36kmpl. This means that with a 12-litre fuel tank, the V-Strom SX can cover a range of 430km between fuel stops.
Should you buy it?
The V-Strom SX tries to be a jack of all trades and it does a decent job at that. It will take you to the office, and at the same time, munch miles out on the highway with equal ease. It packs decent performance and is backed by the assuring Japanese build quality. However, the stiff suspension setup, insufficient braking performance, and the expensive pricing work against it.
The Gixxer 250, which is nearly Rs 40,000 cheaper, does most of the things as the V-Storm SX. Furthermore, the Royal Enfield Himalayan, which retails in the same price range, is a far more versatile and comfortable motorcycle than the V-Strom SX. Now, this is not a good sign for this Japanese adventure tourer.

I would like to talk about the price. When I purchased it, the bike was 2.78 lakhs on the road. And the company had some discounts at the time so took the vehicle for 2.47lakh.The sweet spot would have been around 1.79 lakh to 1.99 lakh ex-showroom. And about the service, just have patience and make friends with the mechanics and the advisor and they will make you happy. I have no worries, im Happy.

1. I bought this from the Suzuki showroom in Thane, (Kiran Suzuki), the overall experience was good, but we very clear they are not giving any accessories unless we ask them 2. This bike is very smooth to ride, above 7000 rpm she is a beast, and below that she is a good commute. I never had to worry about potholes she take them very well. 3. Look-wise, everyone will stop to take a look and ask you if she is a superbike, she is a head turner. 4. Performance-wise she has two face clams and is easy to handle till 5000rpm, a beast at 7000rpm nicely tuned engine ensures smooth power transmission. I can say best in the segment Cons could be the display, for a bike like this Suzuki should have gone for a TFT display, Suspension is good but not the best, Braking is not the best need to be very careful.

One of the best decisions I took just with my friend's word, seriously. The only con is that you'll tend to draw too much attention. So you better dress and ride properly. Rediscover the sheer pleasure of riding. It is quite big and yet under your full control. ZERO vibration, even @ 100! So responsive that it makes you feel like it listens not cos you are the Boss, but cos it Respects the Rider!

1. The buying experience was good.2. Riding was a bit stiff. But does the job on highways. Not an offroader bike.3. Looks wise I loved it. But performance wise it's average. Decent power. Got a mileage of 35-38 in highways and 28-30 in the city.4. Maintenance cost is low but not the servicing. I paid 1300 for my first free servicing. Idk how much I have to pay next.5. Pros:- Overall Good looking bike, has a road presence. A proper highway tourer. You will enjoy it on the highways. Cons:- (i) My bike has vibrations on the right accelerator handle. Idk if someone else has it. On long tours, my right-hand goes numb.(ii) Stiff suspension that's why it is strictly not an offroader. Go for a Himalayan if you want off-roading.(iii) Clunky gearbox. I have difficulty with shifting gears. It's rough, especially with the 6th gear.(iv) The engine makes a bad sound when I rev it to the max.(v) Headlamps are completely useless in the dark.(vi) The top speed I got is around 110km/h. It doesn't go more than that. Or maybe I am a noob idk. And the cruising speed is around 60-70 if you want a mileage of 35-38. I hope I get more after 2 more services.(vii) Although this might not be a con but i suggest you buying a rear tire hugger. The bike gets completely dirty on the rear because of the sticky tires which is good for gripping during rainy seasons.(viii) The Pricing of this bike. It is not value for money.

I decided to bring this V storm home after checking 8 bikes My idea was clean and straightforward I wanted an adventure touring bike I do 95% of highway touring only 5% off-road here and there some city roads are also off-road anyways So the 250cc engine is a sweet spot you get both mileage and power I'm getting 40 kmpl on highways and between 34-36 in the city,The detailing and shape geometry used in this bike is solid 5/5,Performance is mind-blowing picks up with full power on acceleration,Even after driving for straight 5 hours, I felt no pain in the backThe sitting poster is comfortable for long rides, and the service cost is also not pricey but indicators are not up to date (still you can upgrade for LED aftermarket)And instrument cluster is not colourful Overall I'm Happy Riding my BoyI give 4.8/5 for this bikeBuy it! 😁

1.Showroom takes more money from ex showroom mention on official website.2. Bike is actually Vibration-Strom. I've exchanged my gixxer sf for this shit. Now I regret every day.3. Looks good. Chains are very noisy also visors on left side pull out on high speed. Mirrors fall down on vibration.4. After 2nd serviced done right leg side penal not fitted properly. They make noises. I've fixed it outside. Left side pulling issue never solver. Only pro's is mileage I've got 45 approx otherwise only cons cons and cons. Please riders avoid this shit.

Honest Review after 25k kms
Arjun
Here's my honest review. I have been using this bike for over 1.5 years and have driven it for 25k kms.Pros: Smooth engine. Super comfortable and wonderful machine for touring. Return good milage in both highways and city. (Above 30 in city traffic)Low maintenance in terms of filter and engine oil.Clutch is a bit stiff and riders under 5.7 will be bit uncomfortable as the bike is tallCons: Out of excitement I missed doing a predelivery inspection. There was a knocking sound from the front shocks when breaks were applied or when i used to hit a pothole. I brought this to the mechanic's notice at the very first service and I have approached them for the same issue 5 times. Every time they would just tighten some nut and return the bike saying it's fixed. Last time they replaced the coneset still the sound came back after a few hundred kms. I'm frustrated with Suzuki's service. I commute is mostly on highways and traffic never off-road. I wonder how many issues might arise if I go for off-roading.Next is quality of switches: all switches stopped functioning properly after 10k kms. They never replaced it even after complaining several times. I'm facing this issue from reputed service centres from both Udupi and Bangalore(Karnataka).Another issue is suspension is too stiff and the suspension travel is low. Your arms get punished each time you hit a pothole. The worst part is resale value for this bike is too low. Incase you want to sell it Good luck with your task 🙂 as market is flooded with 2nd hand vstroms with low demand

Tips for other riders
The mrf tyres are really good. Even though I am an enthusiastic rider i got a milage of 23k kms out of my back tyre. Front is still usable over 26k kms.Go for xpulse break pads. It will cost half price and same performance.Use motul engine oil (Suzuki's native engine oil make your engine lose refinement)

Buy this only if you want to have a feeling of horse ride

Surprised by the positive reviews I'm bikewale. Maybe everybody was out there to win the bumper prize for the positive reviews. Bought mine on June 23. Regrettably one of the worst investments in my life. Though the engine & gears are super smooth, the suspension is clearly HORRIBLE. You get to feel bumpy even on the smoothest of the roads which doesn't inspire conducted I'm me to ride faster. The constant jumpiness on minor potholes & bumps leaves me irritated, wondering when to finish off my emi & sell this trash off.

Rahul Hessa
* bike is good* lightweight touring and also mileage is good* could have more color options* servicing is the worst part They refused to service my bike in 1st free service Servicing agents are illiterate and unprofessional. They use negative language and offer no empathy. The bike is good but think before choosing Suzuki.
